Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between sports massage and physiotherapy?

Sports massage and physiotherapy both help with injury recovery and muscle tension, but they serve different purposes. Sports massage focuses on muscle relaxation, improving circulation, and reducing stiffness, making it ideal for preventing injuries and aiding post-workout recovery. Physiotherapy, on the other hand, involves a more clinical approach, diagnosing and treating injuries, pain, and movement dysfunctions through manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and targeted treatments. If you’re unsure which is best for you, our Seaham physiotherapists can assess your needs and recommend the most suitable treatment.

Can physiotherapy help with headaches and migraines?

Yes, physiotherapy can reduce headaches and migraines, especially those caused by neck tension, posture issues, or muscle stiffness. Poor posture, stress, and muscle imbalances can lead to tension headaches and cervicogenic migraines. Our Seaham physiotherapists use techniques such as spinal mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, and postural correction exercises to relieve tension and restore proper alignment. Strengthening the neck and upper back muscles can also prevent future episodes. If you suffer from frequent headaches or migraines, our team can assess your condition and provide effective physiotherapy treatment for long-term relief.

Can physiotherapy help with balance and dizziness issues?

Yes, physiotherapy can improve balance, coordination, and dizziness caused by vestibular disorders, neurological conditions, or muscle weakness. Our Seaham physiotherapists offer vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) to help patients with vertigo, inner ear problems, and postural instability. Treatment may include balance training, eye-tracking exercises, and muscle strengthening to restore stability and prevent falls. If dizziness affects your daily life, physiotherapy can help retrain your balance system and improve confidence in movement. Contact our Seaham clinic to book an assessment and start a tailored balance rehabilitation programme.

Do you provide rehabilitation for running injuries?

Yes, our sports physiotherapists in Seaham specialise in rehabilitation for running injuries. Whether you’re dealing with shin splints, Achilles tendonitis, runner’s knee, or stress fractures, we create custom recovery plans to help you get back to running safely. Our treatments include gait analysis, manual therapy, strengthening exercises, and flexibility training to improve running mechanics and prevent re-injury. We also provide injury prevention strategies, including warm-up techniques and footwear recommendations. If pain is affecting your running performance, book an appointment with our Seaham physiotherapy clinic to start your recovery.

Is there parking at the Seaham physiotherapy clinic?

Yes, our Seaham physiotherapy clinic has free on-street parking available nearby. We are located at 9 Adelaide Row, Seaham, SR7 7EF. If you need help with directions or accessibility options, contact our team.
