Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need physiotherapy?
If you have persistent pain, reduced mobility, or an injury that isn’t improving, physiotherapy can help. Whether it’s a sports injury, back pain, or post-surgery recovery, physiotherapy focuses on reducing pain, improving movement, and strengthening the body. Even minor discomfort can lead to long-term issues if left untreated. Our Bishop Auckland physiotherapists provide expert assessment and tailored treatment to help you recover quickly and prevent further problems.
Do I need a GP referral to book a physiotherapy appointment?
No, you don’t need a referral to see a private physiotherapist in Bishop Auckland. You can book directly with our clinic for assessment and treatment. However, if you’re using private medical insurance, your provider may require a referral before covering sessions. If you’re unsure, contact our team, and we’ll guide you through the booking process.
What is the best treatment for sciatica pain?
Sciatica can cause shooting pain, numbness, and weakness down the leg due to nerve irritation. Physiotherapy can help relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve through a combination of spinal mobilisation, postural correction, nerve gliding exercises, and muscle strengthening. Our Bishop Auckland clinic provides hands-on therapy and rehabilitation plans to help manage symptoms and prevent future flare-ups. If sciatica is limiting your movement or causing daily discomfort, physiotherapy can offer long-term relief.
Is there parking at the Bishop Auckland physiotherapy clinic?
Yes, our Bishop Auckland physiotherapy clinic has parking available nearby for patients. We are located at 29 Cockton Hill Road, DL14 6HS, just a short distance from Bishop Auckland train station and retail park. Patients visiting from Shildon, Spennymoor, and Newton Aycliffe will find the clinic easily accessible by car or public transport. How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your condition, severity of symptoms, and recovery goals. Some patients see improvement in a few sessions, while others need ongoing treatment for long-term conditions or post-surgery rehabilitation. After your initial assessment, our physiotherapists will provide a clear treatment plan with estimated recovery time. Our goal is to restore movement, reduce pain, and help you regain full function as quickly as possible.
