Paul

Physiotherapist

Since his graduation Paul has worked exclusively in Musculoskeletal in various different settings such as; the NHS, private practise and elite sport. In addition to holding a BSc(hons) in Physiotherapy, Paul has attained a HND in sport and exercise science, is a qualified acupuncturist, a qualified 'Oldpain2go' practitioner, and has also completed the F.A’s first aid for sport (IFAS) course.

Paul has a keen interest in sporting injuries (particularly combat injuries) and this has led him to working alongside Hartlepool United F.C, Middlesbrough F.C and many elite athletes such as; Commonwealth, Olympic athletes, World champions and Professional fighters. Paul was also selected to work the 2018 'IAAF World Indoor Athletics competitions' in Birmingham, and the '2020 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham'. Paul has also been a guest lecturer at Teesside university.

In his spare time Paul is a professional mixed martial artist. In addition, Paul also loves spending time with his two children and two dogs.

Jackie

Physiotherapist

Qualifying in 1987 Jackie is our most experienced therapist. Jackie has an extensive range of post graduate qualifications and has undertaken research. As a result, Jackie is a specialist in injection therapy, and complex musculoskeletal conditions. She has worked as an extended scope practitioner in CDDFT since 2003 where she is clinical lead for upper limb and works closely with the upper limb Consultants; she has a special interest in shoulder pain and dysfunction .Jackie has also worked in private practise for over 10 years.

When Fighting Fit Physiotherapy opened our Bishop Auckland practice, we were delighted that Jackie decided to join the team due to her extensive knowledge in musculoskeletal conditions.

In her spare time Jackie likes to run and walk.

John

Physiotherapist

John completed a BSc (hons) degree in Sports Therapy in 2005, followed by a master’s degree in Sports Injury & Medicine at Sheffield University and Sheffield Centre of Sports Medicine (SCSM) in 2006. He then relocated back to Teesside to work as a graduate Sports Therapist before attending Teesside University in January 2008 to complete a 2 year postgraduate diploma in physiotherapy.

He has gained a wealth of experience from working in different musculoskeletal environments which include occupational physiotherapy, NHS (GP surgeries & health centres), private practice and sport (semi-professional and professional football). John has over 10 years’ experience working in the fitness industry as a fitness consultant and personal trainer.

Since qualifying as a physiotherapist, he has completed further courses which include lower limb tendinopathy rehabilitation, functional assessment and treatments of the lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint and pelvis and a foundation degree in acupuncture. He has also had the opportunity to use Shockwave therapy at previous positions which he has a keen interest in. John enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and carrying out sports & deep soft tissue massage.
John is registered with the Health & care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

Outside of work John enjoys general strength & conditioning and fitness, walking his dog and watching Hawaii 5-0, rugby league, NFL and Italian football.

Sophy

Physiotherapist

Sophy qualified as a physiotherapist with a masters degree from Kings College London after previously studying a BSc in Applied Sports & Exercise Science at the University of Teesside

Sophy has a keen interest in musculoskeletal injuries, sport specific pathology and rehabilitation with the aim to get patients back to the highest level of function and performance.

Outside of the clinic Sophy is the pitch side lead for England University Hockey Team providing pitch side support, injury prevention, rehabilitation and education to those performing at the highest university level.

Her interest in elite level athletes and rehab comes from her own sporting career. Sophy competed as a semi-professional athlete within womens football for Durham WFC & Sunderland ladies AFC, switching to now playing field hockey within the National League at Barnes Hockey Club. These valuable experiences of performance level sport provide her with a unique insight into rehabilitation that can help her take her patients performance to the next level.

Sophy is also AACP Acupuncture qualified
